Climb Kili and KPAP
In February 2023, we initiated our evaluation process with
KPAP, welcoming their team to join and assess numerous climbs each month to
ensure our porters’ welfare is aligned with KPAP guidelines. Six months into
the monitoring, a manager in our company approved the development of a website
impersonating KPAP and highlighting locally owned Tanzanian KPAP companies and
falsely listed Climb Kili on this list. This action, both incorrect and
misleading, led to the immediate dismissal of the involved employee once the
issue was brought to the attention of our operations team, and the website was
removed immediately. We extend our sincerest apologies to both the KPAP and the
Kilimanjaro community. We reaffirm our dedication to the welfare of our staff,
which has been unwavering for nearly 40 years, and value our ongoing
relationship and KPAP’s continued oversight, today and in the future.
