I recently came home from a two week trip to Tanzania which included the eight day trek up
Kilimanjaro (Lemosho Route) and a three day Safari (Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and
Tarangire) and a few days in Arusha. This life changing trip was thirty years in the making and I
was very fortunate to have discovered Climb Kili as this was a first class experience in every
way.! !
I was greeted by a very professional / very friendly / very efficient Driver named Simon at the
airport with cold water, a bite to eat and good conversation while driving into Arusha after a long
flight.! !
The Summit Lodge was a terrific gathering point with friendly people working very competently
in all areas of the hotel (compliments to Isaac for the Team he leads). The Restaurant/Bar/
Office/Grounds people were terrific and a special thanks to the Ladies for Birthday preparations
that were made on my birthday towards the end of the trip – I was very touched.! !
We had the tremendous fortune of the mighty trio of Seraphin (Lead Guide), Pauli, and Gastor
leading us up the mountain with Siakwa’s (nickname Pancake) stellar food and the many
friendly Porters (Dumas, Ruzicki, Amadeus and the entire crew) leading us up the Mountain.
These wise men are leaders, motivators, educators, and stewards of the Mountain.! !
While on Safari, I was very happy to spend three days with Elisha, who has a majestic
graciousness about himself as we talked about history, economies, politics, culture and of
course – Tanzanian Wild Life. This was all done in great lodges, magnificent landscapes and an
impressive (brand new) customized Toyota Land Cruiser complete with fridge, WIFI, ample
space, and a superior sound system.! !
On my last day in Arusha, Simon drove me around the City to see a few sites and then it was off
to the Airport to return home. Simon is personable, professional, and expertly navigated around
the busy Saturday morning streets of Arusha.! !
I found everyone I met who was associated with Climb Kili to be gracious, knowledgeable in
their particular fields and I got a strong sense they are all empowered to do their jobs. The
other important item to note was communication – it was never difficult as English was very well
spoken by everyone (I felt guilty I didn’t speak Swahili!).! !
On a personal note, I want to say thank you to Brad, Emily, Suki, Yuen Li, Coreen and Andrew
for sharing a portion of your lives with me – It was humbling to meet such a dynamic group of
people who traveled seamlessly together right from the beginning and I look forward to our
paths crossing in the future.! !
In closing, this trip changed my life for a number of reasons, and I will have to bring my Wife
(and a couple of close friends) back for a Safari and a trip to Zanzibar using the superior
services of Climb Kili. For those considering a Trip like this, I highly recommend Climb Kili and
have no hesitation in recommending these fine people who do an exceptional job making guests
feel like Family.! !
