I just wanted to drop you a quick note letting you know how impressed I was with my Climb Kili trek/safari. I just got home last night, but I already wish I could go back to Tanzania–what a fantastic country! We had the best possible experience–I think it exceeded my expectations in every way. I particularly wanted to let you know how professional, friendly, and genuinely caring our guides were–both on the trek and on the safari.
For the trek: Herment Mosha and his team went far above and beyond in their efforts to make us comfortable and happy! All 8 of us “tourists” on the trek were accepted like family, and when I compare our experience to that of the other groups climbing with us, I can say without hesitation that our guides and porters were the best! By the end of the trip, we were all singing and dancing together, they were teaching us the words to songs, and we had all learned some Swahili words of praise and encouragement! The fact that all 8 of us made it to the top of the mountain speaks volumes of the efforts of the entire crew–because there were some moments of serious doubt. But the smiles on the faces of the porters as we came into camp each day, their impressive efforts to make sure the camp was 100% ready when we got there, and the encouragement of the guides that hiked with us each day were invaluable. In short, our experience on the mountain couldn’t have been any better, and that was mostly due to Herment, his assistant guides (Godlove, Seraphin, and Ponzi), and his team of porters!
For the safari: Our guide on the safari was Hilary, who was incredibly knowledgeable and fun to be with for our 3-day adventure! He had answers for all of our questions about the wildlife and landscapes we passed through, and he was also very engaging when our topics of conversation branched out to include more general topics like Tanzanian culture, education, politics, etc. We saw all of the Big 5 within the first 24 hours of the safari–Hilary kept telling us that we were lucky, but I think he deserves some of the credit for knowing so much about where the popular spots are for that game to hang out! He took care of all the details, letting us relax and unwind from our long trek up the mountain–he was a godsend.
As a very experienced traveler in a wide variety of countries, cultures, and standards of living, this trip goes into my memory banks as one of my absolute favorites! I will be recommending Climb Kili to any and all of my friends who are considering a trip to Tanzania! Thanks for your support in organising the trip! Asante sana!
